About Us
Unite for a Cause, Change the World
ISTANBUL WOMEN AND WOMEN'S ORGANIZATIONS ASSOCIATION / IKADDER The journey of service undertaken by a group of volunteer women in the 1970s formed the basis of the work of many organizations such as the Women's Science and Culture Association, the Compassion Foundation, the Women's Education and Culture Foundation, the Women Healthcare Professionals Solidarity Association, the Disaster Emergency Relief Association, and the Rainbow Istanbul Women's Organizations Platform. These organizations, which combined our core values with modern methods, conducted their work based on communication, consultation, and cooperation. The principles of IKADDER, founded in 2006, are a continuation of this spirit. IKADDER was established by bringing together the presidents, members, and volunteers of women's organizations serving the community in various fields in Istanbul. Our association has become a meeting point for organizations and volunteer women who think globally and produce local, original solutions to social problems. IKADDER works to improve the status of women and families, particularly through volunteer women's organizations, by developing communication, consultation, and cooperation models among NGOs themselves and with other individuals and organizations. IKADDER also supports the work of various platforms operating throughout Turkey; it brings together over four hundred NGOs on a platform of communication, consultation, and cooperation. IKADDER is a member of the Advisory Board of the General Directorate of Family and Community Services of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey, and a member of the Board of the Istanbul Governorship Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate. It participated in the Steering Committee of the "Strengthening the Public Sector for Cooperation with NGOs Project" conducted by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey. It has completed its accreditation under the European Solidarity Program. IKADDER is accredited with Special Consultative Status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
